Child Car Seat Restraint

In a suit against Ford and Evenflo, Drake Exhibits was retained by the one of the defense's expert witnesses to create illustrations demonstrating proper and improper methods of securing a child's car seat in the rear of a Ford Escort.

A five year old child sustained a severe brain injury when her mother's car was struck by a vehicle turning in front of them. The mother alleged the car was defective because it did not have tether anchors to secure the child seat, the restraint system was defective, and the vehicle was incompatible with child seats.

Defense testimony claimed the mother made numerous errors in installing the seat in the car and that the child would not have sustained severe injury or been injured at all if the mother had read the owners manual for the car and the child seat.

Ford and Evenflo received a unanimous defense verdict.
