Contact with Electric Rail Car

An intoxicated college student was badly maimed after climbing atop an electric rail car and making contact with its electric power supply. Along with two establishments that had served him alcohol that evening, he sued New Jersey Transit because the rail car he climbed up on was left energized at he station overnight.

Working for the defense, Drake Exhibits used rail car measurements and manufacturer's plans to construct a five foot long scale-model of the rail car showing the relationships between rail car and passenger platform, car height, side-ribbing and roof pantograph assembly.

The exhibit illustrated how the plaintiff improperly accessed the power supply and caused his own injuries.
